Specializing In The Production Of ASME B16.9 Duplex Steel 2205 Elbows And Various Pipe Fittings
2205 Stainless Steel
Standard number: ASTM A240/A240M--01 Duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is a duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance. The yield strength of 2205 duplex stainless steel is twice that of austenitic stainless steel, a feature that allows designers to reduce weight when designing products, making this alloy more affordable than 316, 317L. This alloy is particularly suitable for use in the -50°F/+600°F temperature range. For applications outside this temperature range, this alloy can also be considered, but there are some limitations, especially when applied to welded structures.
Features:
1. Compared with 316L and 317L austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy has superior performance in pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. It has high corrosion resistance. The thermal expansion coefficient is lower and the thermal conductivity is higher.
2. Compared with the austenitic stainless steel, the duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy has twice the compressive strength, and the designer can reduce its weight compared with 316L and 317L. Alloy 2205 is particularly suitable for use in the -50°F/+600°F temperature range, and can also be used at lower temperatures under severe constraints (especially for welded structures).

The weldability of 2205 alloy is very good. The desired properties of the 2205 alloy are that the weld metal and thermally modified parts still maintain the same corrosion resistance, strength and toughness as the base metal. The welding of 2205 is not difficult, but its welding procedure needs to be designed so that after welding, it can maintain a good phase balance and avoid the precipitation of harmful metal phases or non-metal phases. The 2205 can be welded in: GTAW (TIG); GMAW (MIG); SMAW ("stick" electrode); SAW; FCW; and PAW
